My practice focuses on craftsmanship, material integrity, and lasting functionality. The work highlights the repetition, geometry, and rhythm inherent in folding. These studies offer a methodology for exploring structure, movement, and spatial modulation. By translating these forms into wood, metal, and textiles, the folded form becomes a way of embedding energy and motion within functional objects.
I primarily work with locally sourced natural materials that develop a patina over time, supporting my belief that well-made objects should age gracefully. Durability and repairability are central to my approach; I see them as vital for responsible making and fostering long-term relationships between users and the objects they choose to keep.
The goal for each piece is to have an inviting presence, clear functionality, and a distinct character. By combining rhythmic geometry with material honesty, I create work that is timeless in its appearance, valued for its craftsmanship, and cherished for its lasting performance.
“You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment. Fools stand on their island of opportunities and look toward another land. There is no other land; there is no other life but this.”
- Henry David Thoreau
