The idea for the Brayton Chair came from reclining on a staircase where the steps provide a comfortable seat, an armrest, and a footrest. Prototyping started with sketches and small wooden blocks, progressed to a cardboard model, and then to a 3D print. The chair was then modelled in Rhino and plans were made for construction of the various components. Construction began with a wooden base followed by layered foam and finally, a muslin cover. Final upholstery is pending but will resemble the pictured renders.
